Sun protection with hats

There is well-established evidence that exposure to the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays can lead to skin cancer.

Wide-brimmed hats, Bob's to and legionnaire style hats are effective methods of sun protection for the head, ears, face and neck when used in combination with other protective measures. The level of UV protection varies from fabric to fabric. We produce many hats with a high level of natural protection without the help of a chemical ingredient. This is important to us because we want to protect our customers and the planet at the same time.

What is a UPF rating ?

The UPF rating indicates how effective fabrics are at blocking the sun's rays and reducing exposure to UV rays. A UPF rating of 15 is considered to offer "minimal protection", a rating of 30 offers "good protection" and ratings of 50 and 50+ offer "excellent protection". The skin on the face, neck and ears is much thinner and more sensitive to UV damage than that on other parts of the body. Skin cancers often occur on the head and neck, but a good hat can help protect these sensitive areas.
